WHAT TO EXPECT​

As with any permanent makeup procedure, some clients may require additional appointments to achieve their desired results. Please do not expect your permanent makeup to heal perfectly after the first session. Your touch-up appointment is an important part of the process.

The healing period typically lasts around 10 days, and during this time the appearance of your permanent makeup will change. Immediately after your appointment the color may appear darker or more saturated than expected. Over the following days, the area may feel dry or begin to lightly flake. After this stage, the color may appear lighter before gradually settling into the final healed result.

For brows, it is important not to pick or scratch the treated area. Allow any dryness or flaking to fall away naturally. Picking prematurely can remove pigment and lead to patchy results or possible scarring.

Brow tattoos typically take up to four weeks to fully heal. During this time, hair strokes may appear faint as a new layer of skin heals over the pigment. As the skin continues to heal, the work will become more visible and the color will continue to soften and settle.

Skin type can also influence healed results. Clients with oilier skin may find that hair strokes heal softer or more powdery, while drier skin types often heal more crisp and defined. Some clients may also require additional touch-ups depending on how their skin retains pigment.

HOW LONG DOES PERMANENT MAKEUP LAST?​

Permanent makeup is considered a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo. Results typically last 1–3 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, skincare products, and how well aftercare instructions are followed.

Over time the pigment will gradually soften and fade. Maintenance appointments are recommended every 9–24 months to keep the color fresh and defined.

WILL MY SERVICE HURT?​

I use a topical numbing cream and continue to apply numbing cream throughout the procedure to make sure you're comfortable.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT​

• Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before your appointment
• Avoid blood thinning medications if medically safe to do so
• Do not wax, tint, or laminate brows within 3–5 days
• Avoid retinol or strong skincare around the treatment area for 1 week
• Arrive with the treatment area clean and free of makeup

Permanent makeup results will vary from client to client depending on skin type, lifestyle, age, medications, and adherence to aftercare instructions. While every effort is made to achieve the desired outcome, individual results cannot be guaranteed.​​

Eyebrow Clients:

Do not tint, wax, laminate, or thread your brows for at least 5–7 days before your appointment.

Arrive with your normal brow makeup if you regularly wear it so we can discuss your preferred shape and style.

Lip Blush Clients:

Lips must be healthy and free from dryness, cracking, or active cold sores.

If you are prone to cold sores, you are strongly advised to speak with your doctor regarding an antiviral medication prior to your appointment.

Eyeliner Clients:

Remove contact lenses before your procedure and bring glasses if needed.

Do not wear eyelash extensions to your appointment.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT (PMU)

Proper aftercare is extremely important and will directly affect your healed results.

 

Immediately After Your Procedure:

Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, and sensitivity are normal.

The treated area may appear darker, sharper, or more intense during the first few days.

Do not touch the treated area with unwashed hands.

General Aftercare Instructions:

For the first 7–14 days:

Keep the area clean and dry.

Avoid sweating, swimming, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and excessive moisture.

Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning.

Do not apply makeup, skincare products, acids, retinols, or exfoliants to the treated area.

Avoid picking, scratching, rubbing, or peeling any flaking skin.

Allow all scabbing and flaking to come off naturally to prevent pigment loss or scarring.

Sleep on a clean pillowcase and avoid pressure on the treated area.

Cleansing & Healing:

Follow the specific cleansing and ointment instructions provided by your technician.

Use only approved aftercare products recommended by your practitioner.

Over-applying ointment may interfere with healing.

Healing Expectations:

Unevenness, patchiness, light spots, or fading during healing is normal.

Color may appear too dark initially and then lighten significantly during healing.

Final healed results are typically visible after 4–8 weeks.

A touch-up appointment may be needed to perfect shape, color, or retention.

Long-Term Care:

Use SPF daily once healed to help prevent premature fading.

Avoid aggressive skincare treatments directly over the tattooed area.

Future color refresh appointments may be recommended over time.

TOUCHUPS​

It takes approximately 4 weeks for the pigment to fully settle after your initial appointment. It is the client’s responsibility to schedule their touch-up appointment.

Touch-ups are typically scheduled 4–6 weeks after the initial procedure. These appointments are used to perfect the brows, adjust color, and add density where needed. Permanent makeup is a process, and some clients may require more than one session to achieve their desired results.

To maintain your results, maintenance appointments are recommended every 9–24 months, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well your skin retains pigment.

Clients returning for a touch-up who have not followed the post-appointment care instructions, resulting in significant pigment loss, may be subject to additional charges. Clients will always be advised if additional fees apply prior to any service being performed.

Please note that all skin types heal differently. Some clients may naturally retain pigment better than others, while some may require additional sessions to achieve optimal results.

WHO MAY NOT BE A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR PMU​

• A person who is on Accutane or has taken it within the last year.​

• A person who is pregnant or breastfeeding.​

• A person who is affected by AIDS, HIV or Hepatitis.​

• A person with a history of keloid scarring
